to all the amelie we had in our lives.

amelie was the new girl who sat next to me in a eleventh grade math class and doodled stars at the edge of her book. amelie was that eccentric, kind, innocent, imaginative, passion obsessed work of wonder for a human. i listened to her ingenuity for hours, painted sunsets with her and borrowed books from under her bed. she was the girl who read poetries with me when the whole world was dancing. amelie was the first one ever to phrase ‘don’t forget me’ so i never did and never will. amelie was the only person who ever understood this universe inside of my mind, the only friend who appreciated the world i saw through my eyes. we were both half broken girls, observing the world and the night sky but something broke her even more. she was taken from me just as fast as i remember meeting her for the first time.

now i’m not sure

if she even

remembers me

where did you go, amelie?
