she loved you
like how a void would long for a touch.
she loved you in between
those second breathes
and tick of second hand on clocks.
but what more could a girl
with a heart full of love be
in this diabolical world
drowning in wrath of men
who refuses to heal from the war
they bred and bled for.
what more cold we reckon her to be
other than a foolish little madien
waiting to be married off
and shackled to the same fate
as those women before her.
so, she loved you
but she learned well how to let go.
because a fairy tale with
an untamed prince wasn’t
what she was born to live for
and die with an anonymous legacy
of some stranger’s surname.
she was so much more;
more than a queen with an empire
blazing beneath her feet.
